An Interview with Former Miss Limpopo, Kholofelo Lekganyane

Former Miss Limpopo Kholofelo Lekganyane is a Good Samaritan who is doing all in her powers to assist the needy. She is a motivation and encouragement to the young people in the country.

Tenacity Magazine: Tell us who Kholofelo Lekganyane is, where you come from and how you grew up.

Kholofelo Lekganyane: I am a young woman who is 24 years of age, from Mankweng Township in Limpopo Province. I was raised by a single working mother who inspired me to work hard with her motto in life “Life is like a marathon, if you fall along the way while running, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and continue with the race”. I obtained two degrees which an Honours degree in Social Work and a Junior degree in Psychology

Tenacity Magazine: What have you achieved personally and as Miss Limpopo (your growth and development?)

Kholofelo Lekganyane: I founded and hosted both Miss Mankweng and Miss Santa Clause pageants, which have been running successfully for 2 consecutive years. I am the first Miss Limpopo to win the FAME SA Award for Philanthropist of the year. I was also nominated and awarded Community builder of the year by the Seltic College together with Polokwane Municipality.

Tenacity Magazine: How has your role changed you as a person?

Kholofelo Lekganyane: This made me look life in a different way, I am involved numerous community projects. I helped to build a house for a family of six who were staying in a shack and did not have a toilet so I managed to get them at least a decent toilet and a house. I further helped several people including an unemployed man to acquire employment from local people. I also donated a big washing machine, stove, cooking utensils, blankets, pads and toiletry to Mogaung hospice in Mankweng which caters for terminally ill patients. At Hlahlaganya Drop in centre children I donated white Shirts to the children who plays Sarafina dance Drama. Foreign nationals who camped at Tikiline village also received shoes and food as a donation from me, and gave books to Molamo primary school.

Tenacity Magazine:  What notable achievements have you reached during your reign?

Kholofelo Lekganyane: I am the former Miss Personality of the University of Limpopo 2011, Miss Spring 2nd princess 2012, Miss Limpopo 2nd Princess 2013, Miss Limpopo 2014. I made appearances on Dumisa TV on Meletlo programme.

Tenacity Magazine: What are you currently busy with in life?

Kholofelo Lekganyane: I am currently mentoring 10 young girls who are coming from the underprivileged family backgrounds in the province. I started a pad me up campaign (sanitary drive) to restore the dignity of a girl child. I am also a motivational speaker and an MC.
